How can parents raise resilient girls in the digital age?

For the last few years, we have worked with thousands of young women, both in schools and in the community. In that time, we have seen more and more of those young women lose their sense of self.

We see how they feel trapped in a world they can’t disconnect from, whether that’s down to FOMO (fear of missing out) or fear of being left out or losing status.

Sometimes we ask: 'If you suddenly woke up and every single person in the whole world didn't have the internet or social media anymore, how would you feel?'

The vast majority of them say 'relieved, happy, and free'.

Young women explore their thoughts and feelings with us in a way they don’t always at home, or even with friends. We know and understand the challenges they are facing.

That’s why we’re holding a webinar for parents of young women. We want to share that knowledge with parents and carers of young women.

In our sessions, we work to build up their self-esteem and confidence, identify values, and help young women discover what they are passionate about. We help strengthen their sense of self so that they move away from looking to their phones for validation and 'love’. Our passion is to see young women grow into powerful and emotionally grounded adults.

Why should parents attend?

As a parent, we aim to have you leave with:

  • A clearer picture of the pressures girls are navigating today (including influences many parents don’t see)

  • Insight into how this impacts confidence, identity, and decision-making

  • Practical ways to support their daughter emotionally

  • We’ll share what girls are really thinking and feeling (often things they don’t say out loud), and show you how to respond in ways that strengthen her self-worth, not push her further into the online world. This is all rooted in what girls themselves have told us through our work.

Challenges facing young women today

  • Comparing themselves to others and judging themselves as 'less than.'

  • Posting for approval and emotional turmoil and anxiety if the 'likes' don't come

  • Never being able to 'switch off.'

  • Arguments at school carry on into the home environment.

  • Bullying/trolling

  • Fear of being left out - seeing events and outings they weren't invited to

  • Pressure to respond immediately

  • Sexualised content

  • The lure of 'beef' and drama

  • Using social media to self-soothe or zone out instead of addressing emotions more healthily.

What can parents do about it?

There are simple ways that parents can help address some of these challenges. In our webinar, we will talk about some key ways in which parents and carers can connect better with their young women and help them overcome some of these challenges.

Join us on June 4th for what promises to be a very insightful session. Click here to book.
